The Leduc Competitive Mixed Slo Pitch league was originally established in the mid 1980’s with only eight teams who played their games on snow fenced diamonds. By the early 1990’s the league grew to a 16 teams, all of which became a very loyal and continually returned to play each season. Many teams such as; the “Wayouts”, the “26ers”, the “Razorbacks”, “Pickle’s Pirates”, “DJI Thunder” and “BADD” have been staples in this league over the passing decades. The league maintained its 16 team roster throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, playing at the two diamond Elks Facility. In 2009, it was decided that the time had come for the league to move to LEDE Park Diamonds. This seven diamond facility offered much more in the way of amenities for the players and growing opportunities for the league. Upon the transition to the LEDE Park facility, the league partnered with local businesses to create sponsorship opportunities, strengthened ties with the City of Leduc and began playing Friday night games under the lights (Friday Night Lights)
More recently, the Leduc Competitive Mixed Slo Pitch league has been looking to expand in to a 24 team league and is welcoming more teams into its family. The league has now been tiered to create a more competitive balance within its divisions. The Leduc Competitive Mixed Slo Pitch league continues to offer its teams and members an organized, safe, social and fun environment, where all participants uphold the ideals of sportsmanship and compete in the spirit of fair play. The league continues to increase its event schedule for its teams and members to build upon its reputation for an excellent way to stay active, and have fun doing it. Some of these events include; the “Friday Night Lights” extravaganzas, numerous bat draws and trip giveaways throughout the season, mid-season and year end tournaments, and a fantastic season ending social.
